They can also be used as stains. The glaze provides an antique or metallic look very popular for cabinets and furniture. The finish derived from a coat of Paint Couture Glaze enhances your work with minimal effort to apply compared to waxing. Clean up is easy with just soap and water. Paint Couture glaze can be applied to newly painted pieces without applying a topcoat prior.

Clean Up: Use warm soapy water.

Coverage:
4 fl. oz - 10 sq ft
8 fl. oz - 20 sq ft
16 fl. oz - 40 sq ft

Application & Instructions:

Before applying Paint Couture Glaze make sure your painted piece has dried thoroughly, about four hours depending on thickness of application and humidity. If using chalk type paints, wait at least two hours before applying Paint Couture Glaze. If your project shows brush marks, sand lightly with 400 grit sandpaper to remove them. Wipe off any dust with a damp cloth or tac free cloth and let dry. Liberally apply the glaze with a chip brush, quality brush like our Paint Couture Brushes or 1/2″ nap roller. Wait a few minutes and gently wipe off excess glaze using a Paint Couture staining pad, lint free wiping cloth, foam brush, or cheesecloth. Be careful not to overwork the glaze. If working on a large piece, work in small sections about 16” x 16” in size.

For extended working time, add Paint Couture Clear Glazing Base. If your applicator becomes filled with glaze when removing it from the piece, rinse your applicator and squeeze out any excess water. Repeat as necessary. When glazing a large area and need more working time: Apply a coat of Paint Couture Topcoat to act as a barrier coat. Ensure the topcoat is dry before applying the glaze. For best results, it is recommended waiting about four hours before applying the glaze.

To use Paint Couture Glaze as a stain: Apply the glaze evenly with a Paint Couture brush, foam brush or staining pad, and do not remove the glaze. A second coat may be applied to deepen the glaze color after the first coat has thoroughly dried.

It is recommended to allow the glaze to dry 24 hours before applying Paint Couture Topcoat. This will provide the best durability. Our glaze dries with to a matte sheen and does offer protection for your piece so using a topcoat is not needed in most cases. We always recommend applying a topcoat on cabinetry and tabletops.
